Welcome to Take Time to Talk

Hello, I’m Laura

I'm an experienced couples counsellor and I provide online and in person counselling for any individuals and couples who are worried about relationships or other aspects of life.

As a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I want to enable you to feel listened to and understood. This safe, non-judgmental time allows you to work through problems with my support.

If you’re interested in finding this support, either in person or online, book your no-obligation 15-minute telephone chat to discuss how therapy can benefit you. Please get in touch to arrange a convenient date and time.

Please look under “Services” for more information about the supervision I offer to fellow professionals, whether qualified, or trainees.

Couples or Relationships

All relationships have ups and downs, but sometimes they can get a bit stuck. It can be hard to talk problems through or get to a positive solution. Whether you are feeling things aren’t quite right or whether you are encountering serious difficulties, counselling can help. Couples counselling offers the time and a safe therapeutic space to work together through difficult issues, including co-parenting skills. Please visit my Couples Counselling page to read more about the different ways I can help people.

Individuals

Many people come to counselling as individuals to work on their own issues which may be to do with relationships or not. Within the Individual Therapy page, I mention just a few of the more frequent concerns. Every person who comes to therapy has their own unique situation and I can help you to explore yours and find new insights and resolutions. Take a look at my Individual Therapy page to read more about how I work with individuals.

How Sessions Work

Initial Meeting: We will begin our work together by building understanding of your life circumstances, either as an individual or couple, before moving into the specific issues that have brought you for help. You will have the time and space to bring your issues out in the open, without judgement.

If you have any queries or concerns about how counselling works, we will talk these through. Once I have a good idea of the issues you are facing, we will work together to create a personalised plan that supports you in moving forward.

Ongoing counselling

I offer much of my work online, by Zoom, but clients may prefer in person sessions, and my comfortable ground floor therapy space has free on-street parking and disabled access available.

Confidentiality is extremely important both in-person and online. My Zoom sessions are conducted via an end-to-end encrypted link and any paper notes are kept under lock and key.

Online sessions can offer great flexibility; within the privacy and comfort of your own home childcare may be easier, and travelling is not an issue. You might also be surprised how you forget all about the screen.
