About Me

Laura Scott
Counsellor & Psychotherapist for individuals and couples, online and in-person

Credentials and experience

My natural style is to be open hearted, with joy and a smile. I like to create a warm, accepting and non-judgmental space in my sessions, so that you can feel understood and comfortable to explore what’s going on for you.

I trained as a relationships counsellor in Scotland and subsequently moved to Surrey where, since 2018, I have worked with couples and individuals within Relate.

As a Registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work to their ethical and professional standards. I’m also a registered member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO) and adhere to their professional standards for the provision of online therapy.

I provide counselling and online therapy to couples and individuals aged 18 years and older, using psychodynamic, systemic and other approaches.

Prior to counselling, my career in the law in Edinburgh included mentoring and coaching as well as involvement with LawCare. LawCare is a charity devoted to good mental health within the legal profession.

  • LLB and Post Grad Diploma in Legal Practice (University of Dundee)
  • PG Diploma in Leadership and Management (University of the West of Scotland)
  • PG Diploma in Relationship Counselling (DiRC) awarded by Relationships Scotland

I’m a registered practitioner on the following practitioner registers.

Face to Face Practice/ Walking and Talking therapy

To comply with social distancing and to keep you safe, I do not currently offer face to face sessions. However, in addition to my online sessions I do offer side-by-side counselling outside in the fresh air during daylight hours.

My private practice in Surrey is based in Fetcham close to many suitable and beautiful country walks which have free public parking. Please check out the details of how walking and talking might be a good option for you.

I will resume indoors face to face counselling whenever it feels safe to do so.

Online Practice

I am specifically trained in providing counselling via online therapy and I provide most counselling online at present. As a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO) which is the professional body for online counsellors I work to their ethical standards online. ACTO is committed to setting and maintaining the highest standards of therapy in online work. Online Therapy logo
